Job SummaryFaculty Position in Complex Surgical
OncologyIncluding hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeryThe Division of
Surgery at the Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville,
Florida is seeking a full-time academically-oriented Surgical
Oncologist with excellent training and strong clinical skills in
all areas of complex surgical oncology, including melanoma,
retroperitoneal sarcoma, hepatic, pancreatic, biliary, and upper
and lower GI surgery, endocrine surgery, breast surgery, and
peritoneal and advanced malignancy. The position will build a broad
practice in general surgical oncology together with other
experienced surgical oncologists.The successful candidate will
- Have a clinical focus on all components of complex surgical
oncology (without general surgery call or trauma
responsibilities).
- Experience with minimally invasive and open surgical procedures
is expected.
- Have or be eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical
license.
- Be certified or eligible for certification by the American
Board of Surgery in Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO).
Exceptional candidates who are not eligible for ABS/CGSO
certification with a focus in oncologic surgery, or who may have
completed Surgical Oncology training prior to CGSO certification,
are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrate a commitment to our multidisciplinary integrated
model of cancer care;
- Fully support the clinical, scholarly, and educational missions
of our program including integrated patient care, improving quality
metrics and creating scholarly work.
- Display the passion, communication and interpersonal skills and
collaboration required to build an active clinical practice and
develop areas of productive scholarship.
- Be recommended for an Adjunct appointment at the University of
Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) commensurate with
clinical and academic achievements.BMDACC is a premier program of

services through a Partnership between Baptist Health System and
the nation's leading cancer center, the Cancer Network of the
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the institution's

communities throughout the United States and the world. Today the
Baptist Health System in Jacksonville is one of five unique health
systems in the United States to replicate MD Anderson's proven
multidisciplinary model, and philosophy of cancer care, including
integration of clinical trials to optimize all aspects of patient
care.In September 2018, BMDACC moved into an iconic 9-story,
330,000 sq. ft. outpatient facility to provide state-of-the-art
treatment and subspecialty care, clinical research, and education
in all areas of cancer medicine, radiation oncology, and surgical
oncology/surgical subspecialties. To meet the needs of patients and
families, the program has grown to include over 50 physicians
(including 22 surgeons) and 700 team members to provide prevention,
screening, diagnosis, treatment, and wellness/survivorship services
in one location. In-patient care is provided on the same campus at
the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, a 500-bed tertiary
hospital. BMDACC has quickly grown to become one of the larger
cancer programs in Florida - ranking 4 th for new cancer patients
(Florida Trend January 2024) - meeting the needs of this community
