Education Requirements


A college degree or a high school diploma, coupled with 2-3 years on-the-job training, is the minimum education requirement for this position. A background in supply chain is preferred. Any background or education in, inventory management, global sourcing, negotiation basics and logistics-related information technology is an added plus.



Other Required Skills



The position requires excellent communication skills including reading, speaking and writing. Also necessary is a thorough working knowledge of administrative procedures, as well as various excellent computer applications and programs experience including Excel, PowerPoint as well as all areas of Microsoft Office. The ability to read and interpret parts drawings is also highly beneficial.




Physical Requirements



Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position (light lifting, repetitive motion and standing for 30 minutes or more at a time).



Job Duties and Tasks


?Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.


?Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.


?Perform buying duties as necessary.


?Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.


?Review requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.


?Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files and reports.


?Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to help determine the best bid among potential suppliers.


?Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.


?Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.


?Compare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders in order to verify accuracy.


?Locate suppliers, using sources including catalogs and the internet as necessary.


?Monitor contractor performance, recommending contract modifications when necessary.



Procurement Clerk Job Description



Responsibilities include taking purchase requests from various departments within the company and obtaining price quotes from suppliers. Additional responsibilities include converting the request into a Purchase Order utilizing QuickBooks; following up on and expediting critical orders; generating spreadsheets showing departmental metrics. Additionally, this position will be called upon to track deliveries and physically check shipments to confirm their accuracy making sure OUR CLIENT receives the appropriate items as ordered. The role involves providing various administrative levels of support to the procurement group, as well as other activities as needed.
